Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has dissolved his State Executive Council (SEC), bringing an end to the tenure of all commissioners in his cabinet.

The announcement was made on Monday during the weekly State Executive Council meeting held at the Council Chamber in Minna, the state capital. The decision was later confirmed in a terse statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim.

Governor Bago expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their contributions to the development of Niger State. He praised their commitment and sacrifices, while wishing them success in their future endeavors.

Despite the dissolution, the governor retained some key officials in his administration. These include the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the Chief of Staff (CoS), the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS), and other principal officers in his office.

The decision is seen as part of Governor Bago’s ongoing efforts to reposition his administration for greater efficiency and delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Niger State.

Observers believe that the dissolution paves the way for a possible reconstitution of the cabinet, with new appointments expected in the coming weeks.
