The Member representing Akoko South West Constituency II in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Tope Agbulu, on Friday, July 25, 2025, hosted the grand finale of the much anticipated Constituency Games and Bursary Presentation Ceremony in Akungba Akoko, drawing residents, students, youth groups, and dignitaries from across the state.
Held at the Community Primary School Field in Akungba, the event brought weeks of sporting contests to a colourful close. From football matches to traditional board games like Ayo Olopon and Draught, the tournament promoted unity, community spirit, and talent discovery across the constituency. Hon. Agbulu, in his remarks, emphasized that the initiative was more than entertainment, it was a deliberate platform to connect communities and empower young people academically and socially.
In a symbolic gesture of support for education, bursaries worth ₦2.75 million were disbursed to 110 students selected from various towns within the constituency. This came alongside enthusiastic praise from community leaders and dignitaries who highlighted Agbulu’s hands on approach to development.
Reflecting on his two years in office, the lawmaker recounted a series of constituency focused projects, including water provision through boreholes, support for religious institutions, strategic economic empowerment of local traders and artisans, and personal donations to cultural and youth driven initiatives. He also pointed to his contribution to the recently flagged off Akungba Ikare Road Dualisation project and successful facilitation of jobs for graduates into government agencies.
According to the football coordinator,(lawal lukman Adewunmi) Commendations flowed from political leaders and key figures in the state. From the Minority Leader of the Assembly to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports and even the Vice Chancellor of SAM-MARIS University, Hon. Agbulu receives praises as a model representative who invests not only government funds but also personal resources into the well being of his people.
The finale saw Equity Boys FC crowned football champions after a thrilling penalty shootout, while winners also emerged in board game categories. As festivities wrapped up, Hon. Agbulu reaffirmed his vision for a constituency where young people thrive and citizens have equal opportunities to succeed. He urged community leaders, youths, and stakeholders to continue working hand in hand for a stronger, more united Akoko South West Constituency II.
