Crystal Palace made history by winning their first Community Shield with a 3-2 penalty shootout victory over Liverpool at Wembley, following their FA Cup triumph in May. The Eagles, led by Oliver Glasner, showcased resilience in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Hugo Ekitike’s early curler gave Liverpool the lead in the game, but Jean-Philippe Mateta equalized from a penalty after Virgil van Dijk’s foul on Ismaila Sarr. Jeremie Frimpong’s looped cross restored Liverpool’s lead, and Sarr leveled with a clinical 77th-minute finish. In the shootout, Dean Henderson’s saves from Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott, coupled with Justin Devenny’s decisive strike, sealed Palace’s triumph.

Their victory in the FA cup marks a remarkable journey with a 1-0 FA Cup final win over Manchester City, securing their first major trophy, while the Community Shield marks their second.
