In a remarkable achievement that has brought pride to Nigeria and especially Yobe State, three young girls have emerged as global champions at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom. Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved a grand reception to honour their extraordinary performance on the world stage.

The outstanding students  17-year-old Nafisa Abdullah, 15-year-old Rukkaya Muhammad Fema, and 16-year-old Hadiza Kashim  clinched top positions in the English language skills, overall debate and productive skills competitions respectively. They were among over 20,000 participants from 69 countries and they represented Nigeria through the Nigeria Tulip International College.

All three girls are beneficiaries of the Gov. Mai Mala Buni Scholarship Programme which provides full tuition for 890 students at the Nigeria Tulip International College.

Governor Buni described the girls’ global recognition as “a great honour to the state and country,” stating that their achievements justify the state government’s continued investment in the education sector.“These are great feats that make us proud,” he said.

Currently, over 40,000 Yobe students are on government-sponsored scholarships in various universities and other tertiary institutions both in Nigeria and abroad. The state recently celebrated the graduation of 167 students from Indian universities who studied medicine, computer science, and engineering through the same scholarship programme.

The grand reception for Nafisa, Rukkaya, and Hadiza will serve not only as a celebration of their global triumphs but also as a motivation for other students in the state to strive for academic excellence.
