Super Falcons claim their 10th WAFCON trophy in Morocco.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons soared to their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, defeating host nation Morocco 3-2 in a thrilling final in Rabat. 


Suffering 2-0 at halftime, the Super Falcons  displayed a remarkable comeback. Coach Justin Madugu’s tactical adjustments sparked a second-half surge, with Rasheedat Ajibade’s penalty and Chinwendu Ihezuo’s clinical strike leveling the score. Substitute Jennifer Echegini sealed the win with an 88th-minute goal, igniting celebrations among Nigerian fans. The victory marked Nigeria’s ninth straight WAFCON final win, reinforcing their dominance in African women’s football.


The Super Falcons’ campaign was defined by defensive solidity, conceding just one goal from open play. Nine different goalscorers contributed to their joint-highest tally of 11 goals, with a 5-0 quarter-final rout of Zambia and a 2-1 semi-final win over South Africa, sealed by Michelle Alozie’s stoppage-time heroics, highlighting their depth and clutch performance.


Their motivation was fueled by the previous edition’s performance against Morocco in the semi final of the tournament in 2022, when the falcons were two men down but lost in the penalty shootout (4-5). While in thjs edition,they cement their victory leading them to the 10th women African championship.


The host nation having the advantage of the fans are pointing lasers at the falcons players while showing support and distracting the falcons. Against all odds the super falcons are the champions again and for the 10th time.
